Under the current Health and Safety regulations, we have a responsibility to inform you to that any powered gate or barrier should be maintained on a regular basis by a suitably qualified engineer and that a proper record is kept. Automation & Security in South Shields offer maintenance contracts that are specifically designed to cover you under the regulations and ensure you receive an optimum level of safety when it comes to your gate or barrier, no matter where you are across the Tyne and Wear region.

It is, therefore, imperative that you ensure that every one of your company's sites fitted with any form of automated access equipment, without exception, is issued with a maintenance regime compliant with European Community Commission directives.

At Automation & Security, we provide competitively priced service and maintenance contracts that will not only ensure that your company keeps on the right side of the law, but more importantly, will give you the peace of mind that your premises are protected by fully operational and well-maintained security and access control equipment.

Automatic gates and barrier systems are generally exposed to all weather conditions and varying levels of use. As with all automation equipment, a maintenance program will ensure the longest possible lifespan of the equipment in question. Our company provides annual renewable maintenance contracts, which are detailed below.

Every maintenance / service visit will include:
  • Full service and maintenance checks where any faulty components are repaired or replaced
  • Spraying and lubricating all mechanical parts
  • Cleaning circuitry of dust and insect nests.
  • Testing and diagnostics of safety devices
  • Adjustments of gate/barrier hardware such as rollers and hinges
  • Re-alignment of gates/barriers
  • Checking and cleaning of gates/barriers
  • The cost of all labour and consumables used for the service (excludes cost of parts)
  • Force test carried out via a force test report sheet
  • Maintenance and fault report sheets with every site visit
This service visit excludes the cost of any out of warranty parts required to repair the system and any accidental or malicious damage to the system or its operation.
  • Service Plan

    We will make one maintenance / service visit to your property per year (this will keep to the legal requirement).

  • Gold Service Plan

    We will make two maintenance / service visits to your property per year (Automation & Security recommend having 2 services a year).

  • Platinum Service Plan

    We will make three maintenance / service visits to your property per year. This is highly recommended for gates / barriers that open 150 times per day.

  • Commercial / Bespoke Service Plans

    We will make regular maintenance / service visits to your property per year. This is highly recommended for gates / barriers that open 30 or more times per day.  Please call Paul directly on 07710 199 393 or email info@commercialgate.co.uk for this package.

  • After care

    All new installations are issued with a one year warranty but the gates must be serviced within the first twelve months to validate the second year warranty. At additional cost, we are pleased to offer clients a servicing package for their new electric gates, in line with usage.


    Once an electric gate installation has been completed, it is important to make sure your new gates stay in perfect working order. Any outdoor equipment with moving parts needs regular maintenance to ensure continued smooth operation. Automation & Security can provide you with an ongoing maintenance service to give you peace of mind that your gates will be working efficiently. We offer a range of maintenance contracts and fees to suit your particular requirements.


    Our qualified gate engineers undertake repairs and service calls five days a week. Our normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, however we offer a 24 hour emergency call out service if you require it.
